Black Russian Terrier

At a height of up to 30 inches and a weight of 140 pounds, this long-haired Russian transplant definitely fits the large dog category. Animals can live up to 15 years and are exceptional working dogs. They love to guard and protect and are always happy to help in any way. These big dogs don’t shed, they demand lots of exercise and attention, and their coat just requires regular brushing and a few trims a year.

Bouvier des Flandres

This massive, strong breed is one of the big dogs that don’t shed, while also being very protective, gentle and calm. This is an excellent working dog as well. Height can reach 28 inches and a weight of over 90 pounds is not uncommon. The Bouvier des Flandres has a lifespan of 10 to 12 years. He is great with children and is exceptionally loyal.

Komondor

This dog looks unruly at best. This breed is a sheep dog that looks a lot like those animals he was bred to protect. He has a thick white coat of dreadlocks that does not require any brushing. Just trim when needed. Be forewarned, Komondors require bathing frequently and take forever to dry. Males can grow to more than 25 inches tall and over 120 pounds.

Giant Schnauzer

Schnauzers are one of the most popular dogs in the world, and giant schnauzers are smart and loyal big dogs that don’t shed. At adulthood they measure between 26 and 28 inches tall and can weigh more than 100 pounds. They exist in only 2 colors – salt-and-pepper or solid black.

Irish Water Spaniel

This brave and daring dog is also extremely intelligent. Irish Water Spaniels are great with kids, and if you hate spending your day cleaning up dog hair, you will enjoy these loyal big dogs that don’t shed. Weight can reach 70 pounds and adult Irish Water Spaniels can get as tall as 2 feet. They live up to 12 years and are easy to train. They do need exercise daily and are frequently found in the water where their waterproof coat and webbed feet make them right at home.
